Our customer in the civil construction industry sought an overhead standpipe solution for their diverse projects, as existing options lacked robustness and adaptability. Our in-house engineering team worked closely with the customer to design a new, portable overhead standpipe that exceeded their requirements.
Featuring a self-supporting design, compact storage with integrated toolboxes and forklift pockets for easy transportation, this portable overhead standpipe is built for efficiency. Cam-lock fittings enable quick and secure connections, crucial for fast-paced projects. Superior strength and robust construction make it well-suited for the challenging environments encountered in civil, mining, and industrial settings.
The collaborative effort between Mech3D and our customer led to an innovative solution, enhancing operational efficiency and flexibility.
In response to a customer’s request to assist in revitalising a public space, a collaborative effort was undertaken with a focus on seamlessly integrating functional elements with artistic design. The project involved fabricating and installing 12 bike racks, 5 seats and tree grates strategically placed throughout the area. The challenge was to create structures that not only served their practical purpose but harmonised with the urban landscape aesthetic.
The design concept, led by the customer’s architectural team, emphasised fluidity and harmony. Using single pieces of metal bent into the curved designs complemented the surroundings. The vivid blue bike racks created a striking contrast to the natural steel and wood finish of the bench seats. Effective communication throughout the project saw a successful execution of the design and timely delivery of the finished product.
The transformed public space now provides a welcoming environment for the neighbourhood to enjoy. It proves a testament to the power of collaboration between architects and engineers’ ability to bring a vision to life.
Our customer, a leader in hydraulic repairs and solutions, approached us to collaborate on the design and manufacture of specialised house jacks. Intended to support heavy loads in residential and industrial settings, we developed a solution that met their requirements for strength, reliability and performance.
Ensuring optimal strength-to-weight ratios, along with ease of use and maintenance as a priority, we worked with the customer to refine the design iteratively, ensuring all needs were truly met in the final product. The finalised design satisfied all functional requirements and exceeded performance expectations.
Prioritising precision and quality, the manufacturing process included rigorous weight rating and pressure checks to verify its load-bearing capacity and hydraulic integrity. Using TIG root passes and flux core caps, the team ensured structural integrity and prevented leakages.
Notably achieving zero leakages, our customer expressed great satisfaction with the final product.
In the construction of a new chemical plant, robust pipe support systems are critical to ensure operational efficiency and safety. Facing the challenges of corrosive substances and high-pressure conditions within the piping network, our customer was seeking custom pipe clamp saddles that could endure the conditions. Through careful consideration of materials, load-bearing capacity and corrosion resistance, the saddles were tailored to withstand the harsh environment of the chemical plant.
Precision bending techniques ensured optimal fit and curvature, reducing stress points and securing a seamless match upon installation. The integrity of the material was of utmost importance, with stringent quality assurance measures taken throughout the process.
By leveraging our expertise in bump bending and precision fabrication, the customer was able to seamlessly integrate the custom saddles into their piping infrastructure.
A customer in the belt splicing and pulling industry required heavy-duty counterweights to hold down winch cable drums during their operations. Traditional counterweights were not meeting their specific needs, as they posed a safety risk and were prone to damage and misuse with their open-top designs. Our team developed a custom solution featuring a two-part system allowing for easy removal and replacement of the tank, independently of the frame.
To ensure convenience, the counterweights were equipped with dual fill points located at the top and bottom of the tanks for easy filling and draining. Designed with an enclosed top, the tank can’t be classically misused as a rubbish bin and eliminates open bodies of water in work environments, minimising potential hazards.
Additionally, the final design included a mushroom head breather and minsup fitting at the top, and a ball value on the bottom for easy filling and draining. Now having a reliable and convenient solution, the customer was confident their future operations will be safer, more convenient and productive.
Our customer was in the process of constructing a new workshop in Kalgoorlie and sought a dependable partner to deliver 44 tons of structural steel needed for the framework. With the workshop floor covering an expansive 1200 square meters, stringent requirements were in place for top-quality columns and crane beams. On-time delivery was paramount to ensure minimal disruption to the customer’s delivery schedule.
Our fabrication team executed the welding of beams and columns under stringent quality control protocols, guaranteeing the structural integrity of each component. To ensure quality, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) was conducted on a minimum of 30% of welds, showcasing the excellence of our workmanship.
Post-fabrication, all steel elements underwent surface treatment to enhance corrosion resistance. The successful completion of the project reflects Mech3D’s unwavering commitment to upholding quality and precision standards.
Our Customer was looking to enhance their safety infrastructure at a local chemical processing facility. This project was aimed to design, engineer and install two safety walkways, improving access and egress within the chemical site.
Our scope included the entire project lifecycle, from design, engineering, shop detailing and fabrication, through to delivery. The complexity was heightened by the presence of existing pipework and footings, necessitating meticulous planning and execution.
Collaborating closely with the customer, Mech3D carefully navigated around the existing infrastructure, seamlessly integrating the walkway and avoiding disruption to operational integrity. The finished product met all safety requirements, with all parties satisfied with the quality of work, attention to detail and overall project success.
Our customer was seeking a tailored solution to facilitate easier loading and unloading access for semi-trailers in their small compound yard. Our team proposed a customised fence and gate system, designed to maximise accessibility while ensuring security.
Featuring a three-leaf stacking gate design for space efficiency, and a 12-meter opening, our customer now has full access to the entire side of semi-trailers. In addition to manufacturing the gate and fencing, Mech3D carried out the installation, ensuring minimal disruption to the customer’s operations.
Carried out efficiently and to industry standard, our customer received a solution that not only met their immediate needs but also promised long-term value and reliability.
